Sport plays a significant role at St Joseph’s with a proud history of success across many areas. Throughout the years, we have had both individuals and numerous teams reach Diocesan, NSWCCC and All Schools representation, with the highest of accolades being awarded. Namely, we have had students represent at state and national level in sports such as, Rugby League, Cricket, Touch Football, Swimming, Athletics, Cross Country, Netball, Triathlon, Equestrian and Golf, as well as representation in national teams in the sport of Futsal.
The students have the opportunity to participate and compete in a variety of competitions at local, Diocesan and State carnivals, including our annual school Swimming, Athletics and Cross Country carnivals. As we have students attend St Joseph’s from across the Upper Hunter, many of our representative teams are coached during our Thursday sport afternoons. Students not involved in such teams have the opportunity each term to select from a wide variety of activities including numerous team sports such as Basketball, Football, Volleyball, Netball, Water Polo and Touch Football, as well as individual pursuits such as Tennis, personal fitness and gym activities, power walking and lifesaving. The school utilises both local Aberdeen facilities and those located in Scone and Muswellbrook.
The selection of Thursday afternoon sport is continually updated to cater for individual needs and interests. St Joseph’s aims to engage all students in sport at all levels to establish physical activity for everyone as well as catering for those students who pursue excellence in their chosen field.
